The Priyanka Promise: 5 Things I Guarantee Every Family
Anyone can make promises on a website. Here are the ones I actually keep, with every single child, every single time.
Let me start by telling you what worries me about my own profession.
Never copied, never one-size-fits-all.
The truth, gently told. No false numbers.
You are my partner, trained and guided throughout.
Honest effort and real care, never empty promises.
The same patience, love and belief I would give my family.
There are people who will promise a desperate parent anything. They will promise your non-verbal child will be talking in fluent sentences in three months. They will promise a “cure.” They will use big words and impressive certificates to make you feel that handing over your money is the same as handing over hope.
I have met the parents who believed those promises. They come to me later, more tired and more heartbroken than before, having spent money they could not spare and trust they cannot easily give again. And it makes me angry, honestly, because a child’s future is not something to gamble with, and a parent’s love is not something to exploit.
So I want to do the opposite. Instead of impressive promises I cannot keep, I want to make you five honest promises that I keep with every family who trusts me. These are not marketing words. They are the rules I have built my work on for eight years, and part of why parents across India have come to consider me one of the best speech therapists and special educators in the country. If I ever break one of them, you have every right to walk away.
Here they are.
Promise One: I will build a plan made only for your child
Your child is not a category. They are not “an autism case” or “a speech delay” or a file number in a system. They are a whole little person, with their own personality, their own way of seeing the world, their own particular mix of strengths and struggles that no other child shares.
So why would I ever give them the same plan I gave the child before them?
I promise you that the plan I build for your child is built around your child alone. I spend real time getting to know them first, not rushing them through a fifteen-minute slot, but truly watching and understanding how they communicate, what calms them, what overwhelms them, and where their hidden strengths are. And then I build everything around that.
If your child is non-verbal, we will not begin by demanding words they cannot yet give. We will build communication in whatever form they can manage, and grow from there. If your child cannot sit still, we will not fight against that, we will work with it. The plan bends to fit your child. Your child never has to bend to fit the plan.
This is one of the biggest differences between coming to me and going to a large centre, something I explain fully in what makes my therapy different from a big centre, where children are often moved through the same standard programme like items on a conveyor belt. Here, there is no conveyor belt. There is only your child, and a plan that fits them like it was made for them, because it was.
Promise Two: I will always tell you the truth
This is the promise I hold most dear, and it is the hardest one to keep, because the truth is not always what a worried parent wants to hear.
I promise I will never sell you false hope to win your trust.
If your child is making wonderful progress, I will tell you, and we will celebrate every win together, no matter how small. But if progress is slow, I will tell you that too, gently and honestly, rather than pretending everything is perfect just to keep you happy and paying. If something is not working, I will say so, and we will change it. If I think your child needs support I cannot provide, I will tell you that and help you find the right person, even if it means losing you as a client.
I would rather lose your business by being honest than keep it by lying to you. Because the moment a therapist starts telling parents only what they want to hear, the child stops being the priority. And the child is always my priority.
You will never have to wonder whether I am being straight with you. You will never get vague answers designed to keep you hopeful and spending. You will get the truth, delivered with kindness, every single time. That honesty is the foundation everything else is built on.
Promise Three: You will never be left in the dark
So many parents tell me the same painful thing. They took their child to therapy somewhere, dropped them off, picked them up an hour later, and had absolutely no idea what happened in between. No idea what was being worked on. No idea how to help at home. No idea if their child was improving at all. They felt like outsiders to their own child’s care.
I promise you will never feel that way with me.
You are not a bystander in your child’s journey. You are my partner, and I treat you like one. From the very first week, I explain your child’s plan to you in plain, simple words, no confusing jargon designed to make me sound clever. You will understand exactly what we are working toward and why.
I give you simple things to do at home, gentle activities that fit into your normal daily routine, so the progress does not stop the moment our session ends. I answer your questions, all of them, however small they feel. And I keep you genuinely updated on how your child is doing, honestly and regularly.
There is a reason for this beyond kindness. The truth is, you spend far more time with your child than I ever will. You are your child’s most important teacher. When a parent and I work together as a team, sharing the same understanding and the same goals, children progress so much faster. So keeping you informed and involved is not just considerate, it is one of the most powerful tools we have.
Promise Four: I will never make a promise I cannot keep
I touched on this at the start, but it matters enough to be its own promise.
I will never tell you your child will be speaking in full sentences by a certain date to make you feel good. I will never promise a miracle. I will never promise a “cure,” because development is not a disease to be cured, it is a journey to be supported.
What I will promise is this: I will give your child my full effort, my real experience, my honest care, and my complete belief in them. I will work patiently and skillfully toward realistic goals we set together. And I will celebrate every genuine step forward as if it were my own child taking it.
Real progress does not come from dramatic promises. It comes from steady, patient, honest work, week after week, built on trust. The children I have seen bloom the most are not the ones whose parents were promised the most. They are the ones whose parents were told the truth and stayed the course with me.
Hope is precious. I will never cheapen yours with a promise I cannot keep. But I will give you something better than false hope, which is real, honest reasons to believe in your child.
Promise Five: I will treat your child as my own
This is the promise that holds all the others together.
When your child sits with me, I do not see a client. I see a child who deserves the same patience, the same warmth, the same fierce belief that I would give my own family. I see a little person whose silence is not emptiness, but a door waiting to be opened. And I treat the opening of that door as if it were the most important work in the world, because to you, and to me, it is.
This is something a large centre, however well-meaning, often cannot offer. There, your child may be passed between rotating staff members, a different face each week, never quite building a deep bond with anyone. Here, your child has one person, me, from start to finish. One person who learns their little quirks, who remembers what made them laugh last week, who they slowly learn to trust. And so often, that trust, that bond, is exactly where the breakthrough begins.
I do this work because I love it, and because I love these children. Eight years and more than a hundred children later, that love has not faded. If anything, it has grown. Your child would not be a number to me. They would be one more little person I am honoured to walk beside.
What these promises look like on a real, ordinary day
Promises can sound beautiful on a page and mean nothing in practice. So let me show you what they actually look like on a normal working day, because this is where they either matter or they do not.
A mother messages me, worried, because her son had a difficult week and seemed to go backward. Promise three and four mean I do not brush her off with a cheerful “do not worry, he is fine.” I talk to her honestly. Sometimes children do have harder weeks, and that is normal, and I explain why. We adjust something small at home. She feels heard instead of dismissed.
A child who has been with me for two months still is not using many words, and the parents are quietly losing heart. Promise two means I do not pretend we are further along than we are. I show them the real progress that is happening underneath the surface, the better eye contact, the longer attention, the calmer behaviour, the foundations that words are built on. I am honest that words are coming but cannot be rushed. They leave with realistic hope instead of false hope, and they stay the course, and the words do come.
A new parent asks me, nervously, whether their child is “too far gone” to help. Promise five means I never, ever make a child or parent feel that way. I see possibility in every child who comes to me, and I say so honestly, because I have watched too many “too far gone” children prove the whole world wrong.
These promises are not poetry. They are choices I make, over and over, in small ordinary moments, with every family. That is what makes them real.
Why I make these promises
You might wonder why I put all this in writing. The answer is simple.
A worried parent, trying to choose someone to help their precious child, deserves to know exactly what they are getting before they ever spend a rupee. You deserve to know the values of the person you are trusting. You deserve more than a nice photo and a list of qualifications.
These five promises are who I am as a therapist and as a person. They are the standard I hold myself to, every day, with every child. And I put them in writing so that you can hold me to them too.
If you would like to see what these promises look like in practice, read what your child’s first month with me looks like. And if these promises sound like the kind of care you want for your child, then I would be honoured to meet you both. Your first consultation is completely free, with no pressure and no obligation, just an honest conversation about your child and how I might help.
Your child deserves someone who will keep their promises. I would like to be that someone.
