Meet the Person Behind the Therapy
Before you trust someone with your child, you deserve to know who they really are. So let me introduce myself, properly.
When you choose a speech therapist or special educator for your child, you are not really choosing a service. You are choosing a person. A person who will sit close to your child, week after week. A person your child will learn to trust. A person you will hand your deepest worries to, and hope they hold them gently.
Choosing someone for your child, you are really asking:
- ❤“Can I trust this person with my most precious one?”
- ❤“Will they be patient when my child struggles?”
- ❤“Do they actually care, or is it just a job?”
That is a big thing to ask of a stranger. So I think you deserve to know who that person is, beyond the certificates and the title of “one of the best speech therapists and special educators in India.” You deserve to meet the real me.
So, hello. I am Priyanka Singh. Let me tell you a little about who I am, and why I do this work.
How it began for me
I did not fall into this work by accident, and I did not choose it for the money. I chose it because, quite simply, I could not imagine doing anything else.
Early in my journey, I met children that the world had quietly given up on. Children who had been labelled, set aside, spoken about as problems rather than as people. And when I looked at them, I did not see problems. I saw locked doors. Behind each door was a whole child, full of thoughts and feelings and love, just waiting for someone patient enough to find the way in.
I discovered that I had patience for those doors. Where others got frustrated and gave up, I could sit, and wait, and try again, and again, gently, until something opened. And the first time I watched a child the world had dismissed begin to communicate, to connect, to show the person they had always been inside, I knew. This was not going to be a job for me. It was going to be my life’s work.
That was the beginning. Everything since has only deepened that feeling.
What I actually believe
If you want to understand someone, do not just look at what they do. Look at what they believe. So here is what I believe, honestly, at my core.
I believe every child can grow. Not every child in the same way, or at the same speed, but every child. I have never met a child who could not move forward with the right support, the right pace, and someone who truly believed in them. When a parent tells me their child was called a hopeless case, something in me lights up, because I have seen too many “hopeless cases” prove the whole world wrong.
I believe children are not problems to be fixed, but people to be understood. A child who cannot speak is not empty. A child who melts down is not bad. They are communicating in the only way they can, and my job is to learn their language before I ask them to learn mine.
I believe parents are partners, not bystanders. You know your child better than I ever will. So I do not work above you. I work beside you, which is something I care about so deeply that I wrote a whole piece on how I work with you, not just your child.
And I believe in honesty, always, even when it is hard. I would rather tell you a difficult truth gently than a comfortable lie. That belief is so central to me that it became one of the five promises I make to every family.
These are not slogans I put on a website. They are the actual convictions that guide every session, every conversation, every decision I make about your child.
Who I am when the session is happening
Let me tell you what I am actually like to work with, because qualifications do not tell you that.
I am patient. Almost stubbornly so. I will not rush your child, and I will not give up on them. If something takes weeks, it takes weeks. I am not watching a clock or hurrying to the next child, because I deliberately keep my numbers small enough to give each child real time. You can read why in why I only take children I can truly help.
I am warm, but I am also honest. I will celebrate every win with genuine joy, and I will tell you the truth about challenges with genuine care. I am not cold and clinical, and I am not falsely cheerful either. I am simply real with you, the way I would want someone to be real with me about my own child.
And I am devoted. When I take on your child, I think about them outside our sessions. I turn their challenges over in my mind. I plan, I adjust, I care. Your child is never just an appointment to me. They become one of “my children,” and I carry them in my heart accordingly.
What a session with me actually feels like
You have met my heart and my history. But you might still wonder what it actually feels like to have your child in a session with me. Let me paint it for you.
It does not feel like a clinic. It does not feel cold, or rushed, or intimidating. It feels, more than anything, like play. Because children learn best when they feel safe and happy, my sessions are built around warmth and gentle play, not pressure. To your child, it often does not feel like “work” at all. It feels like time with someone kind who finds them interesting and likes them just as they are.
I get down to your child’s level, literally. I follow their lead before I ask them to follow mine. I notice the small things, the toy they reach for, the sound that makes them smile, the moment they start to tire, and I shape everything around those signals. If your child needs to move, we move. If they need quiet, we go quiet. The session bends to your child, never the other way around.
And throughout, you are welcome. I do not shut the door and hand your child back an hour later as a mystery, the way a big centre so often does. You see what we do. You learn from it. You become part of it. That is how a session with me feels: warm, personal, unhurried, and shared with you.
Why I am still here, after all these years
People sometimes ask whether this work tires me out. Eight years of difficult cases, slow progress, frightened parents, children who test every ounce of patience. Do I not burn out?
I understand the question, but the honest answer is no, and the reason tells you something important about who I am.
I am still here, with as much love for this work as the day I started, because of the moments. The moment a non-verbal child says their first word and their mother’s face breaks open with joy. The moment a child who used to melt down at the door runs in smiling. The moment a parent who arrived hopeless leaves with hope. The moment a child once called a hopeless case walks into a regular school beside their friends. These moments are not occasional perks of my job. They are the entire reason I exist as a professional.
Money could never keep someone in this work through its hard days. Only love can. And I have that love in abundance, still, after eight years and more than a hundred children. If anything, it grows. Each child adds to it.
I tell you this not to boast, but because it matters to your decision. When you choose someone for your child, you want someone who is here for the right reasons, who is not tired of caring, who will bring genuine devotion and not just professional routine. After all these years, I can promise you that is exactly what I bring. Your child would be met not by someone going through the motions, but by someone who still finds this work to be the most meaningful thing in the world.
My qualifications, honestly explained
I have told you about my heart. But heart alone is not enough, and I would never ask you to trust your child to good intentions without real expertise behind them. So here are my credentials, plainly.
I am registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India, the official body that regulates special educators and rehabilitation professionals in this country. My registration number is B112876, valid through 2031. This matters, because it means I am a recognised, accountable professional, not an unverified tutor. Many people offering “therapy” in India have no such registration. I would always encourage you to check for it, with me or anyone you consider.
I hold a Diploma in Special Education with a focus on Cerebral Palsy, from KIRAN Society. And beyond the paper qualifications, I have something that no certificate can give: more than eight years of real, hands-on experience with over a hundred children, which I have written about in what eight years and a hundred children have taught me.
Heart and expertise, together. That is what your child deserves, and that is what I have spent my life building.
Why this matters for your choice
When you go to a large centre, you often cannot choose your child’s therapist, and you may never form a relationship with any single one of them. Your child is cared for by the institution, by whoever is on shift, rather than by a particular person you have come to know and trust.
When you choose me, you are choosing a person. You know who will be with your child every session. You know her values, her story, her way of working. You can build a real, lasting relationship with one consistent human being who knows your family. For a child who needs trust and consistency to open up, and for a parent who needs to feel safe handing over their most precious person, that makes all the difference.
That is the quiet advantage of choosing an individual over an institution. You are not trusting a building or a brand. You are trusting a person you have actually met, whose heart you have come to know.
So now you have met me, at least a little. You know why I do this, what I believe, what I am like, and what stands behind me. I hope it helps you feel that I am not a stranger anymore, but someone you could imagine trusting with your child.
If you would like to meet me properly, I would love that. We can simply talk, for free, about your child, with no pressure at all. You can read more about my full story, or what your child’s first month with me would look like. But the warmest first step is just a conversation.
I would be honoured to be the person behind your child’s therapy.

So that is a little of who I am beyond the qualifications: a person who chose this work deliberately, stays in it out of genuine love for these children, and brings her whole self to every family who walks through the door. If that sounds like the kind of person you would want alongside your child, I would be glad to meet you.
This is part of why families choose me. You can read the full story of why parents pick me for their child, or explore how I work with you.
